Digital Equality is a Must Says MP

Chris Elmore MP has launched a resident consultation in Pontycymer about the amount of digital freeview channels available to them. The consultation comes as a number of residents have come to the MP pointing out that they receive less TV channels than those who live further up the valley. The signatories, which include local subpostmaster Dixie Dean, have said the problem seems to be from the signal from the Wenvoe mast being weaker once it comes over the Garw valley. Bryngarw Park Receives Green Flag

Bryngarw Park has this week received a Green Flag award from Keep Wales Tidy. The flag which recognises and rewards best parks and green spaces in the country was formally raised at an event attended by MP Chris Elmore, Deputy Leader of Bridgend Council Huw David, Cllrs Charles Smith, Ceri Reeves and John McCarthy, Deputy Mayor Cherie Jones as well as members of the board of trustees, volunteers and staff. MP Warns of Scam HMRC Calls

Ogmore Member of Parliament Chris Elmore has issued a warning to residents from a scamming phone call claiming to be from the HMRC. The call, which is an automated voice, is claiming to be taking residents to court over unpaid tax and asks residents to press 1 in order to speak to a caseworker. Once done, the con artist will then try to gain personal information such as national insurance numbers and bank details. MP Welcome (Breaks) New Service Station

Chris Elmore MP opened the redeveloped service station in Sarn on Friday. The Welcome Break, which has been undergoing a total rebuild has re-opened in a new state of the art facility. Chris Elmore, who cut the ribbon, said: “It’s fantastic that a company like Welcome Break have invested in Sarn and created these new jobs. It’s a brilliant building and it was a pleasure to open it.” The junction 36 services now include a Starbucks, Burger King and WH Smiths has received a £6.5 million investment and has created 35 new staff (to add to the original staff numbers).

Weather Won’t Dampen Fun Run

Chris Elmore MP joined Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf Rhys Lewis for the annual Evanstown Fun Run. The annual event, bought locals together as children of all ages ran the course. The event wouldn’t be dampened by the weather, with the forty strong children all going full throttle. Organised and funded by the Gilfach Goch Community Council, the event has become an Evanstown staple. Chris Elmore MP said: “It was a fantastic event and I was delighted to give out the awards to the children competing. The event really does highlight the great community spirit here.”

Ogmore MP Chris Elmore experienced what is involved in delivering the post when he joined the staff of the Royal Mail sorting office on Monday. Andrew Thomas, Royal Mail Delivery Manager, Bridgend said: “We’re delighted that Chris is taking the time to experience the everyday challenges faced by our delivery postmen and women.
