Brexit Causing Aviation Sector Uncertainty

The aviation sector is vital to the Welsh economy and this Tory Government's chaos over Brexit is causing great uncertainty for the sector and the wider supply chains. Last week I tackled ministers on this important issue

Weekend of Christmas Celebrations in Ogmore

Home from a wonderful weekend of Christmas concerts across the constituency. Saturday evening at Pencoed Primary School, listening to their wonderful school choir, the superb Pencoed Silver Band and the fantastic Glamorgan Mixed Choir, of which I’m proud to be patron. Sunday afternoon at the annual Coychurch Higher Community Council Christmas Service, with lovely readings from young people in the village and carols again from Glamorgan Mixed Choir. This evening at St David’s Maesteg, for the final concert of the Christmas Tree Festival, the entries get better each year - I was especially pleased to see the tree marking suffrage (pic below so do have a look!). Finally slightly later this even

Hope and Rescue in Llanharan Helping to Protect Dogs

Tory austerity from Westminster is having a real impact on our local councils' ability to provide effective animal welfare support. I'm pleased that charities such as Hope Rescue in Llanharan are helping local authorities to protect dogs from harm despite these ongoing pressures.

Celebrating The Royal Mail's Hard Working Staff

Fantastic morning with Royal Mail Maesteg to say thanks to all the hard working staff in their busiest time of year. Everyone was in fantastic spirits, despite the weather. I wish them all the best in the run up to Christmas. Always remember to be kind to your postie!

My Week in Westminster

Here's my Week in Westminster update for constituents after an extraordinary week for the government over Brexit. Looking forward to visiting several constituency events over the weekend. If you have any issues to raise with me, please do get in touch or feel free to attend my advice surgery on Friday at Tesco in Maesteg.

Annual Exports from Wales to EU Worth £10.2 Billion

It was reported in June that Wales' annual exports to the EU are worth £10.2 billion. Today I asked the Welsh Secretary when he's going to start doing his job and stand up for Wales by being honest with us that this deal will damage the Welsh economy.

Social Media And Young People's Mental Health

As part of the Inquiry I'm holding with The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) into social media and young people's mental health, it's clear we need to look at what can be done to improve teacher training to ensure our teachers are able to help tackle some of the issues pupils face. I raised this important factor in the House of Commons last week.

Protecting Young People Online

It's vital the government works with social media companies to ensure they both do all they can to protect young people online - particularly on social media. I'm pleased with the Home Secretary's positive response to my question on this issue earlier this week. It's vital we build consensus on this issue to ensure real action can be taken following the Inquiry I'm running into this issue with The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH).

Ty Mel Smallholding Helping to Protect Bees

Lots of small businesses who make honey, such as the wonderful Ty Mel Smallholding, do an awful lot to protect bees whilst ensuring ethical bee-keeping practices are maintained and we have a world-class supply of Welsh honey. I was pleased to raise their excellent work in Parliament last week.
