Maesteg Town Hall Redevelopment Off To A Flying Start Thanks To Welsh Labour Government and EU Fundi

Ogmore MP and AM, Chris Elmore and Huw Irranca-Davies, have welcomed the new funding announced by the Welsh Labour Government to support the redevelopment of Maesteg Town Hall. The project is part of the Building for the Future programme, which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Regional Development Fund. The financial support made available to Bridgend County Borough Council includes £858,000 from the Building for the Future programme, £2,001,990 of EU funding and £650,000 from the Valleys Task Force. First Class Care In Ynysawdre

Ogmore MP Chris Elmore has praised the “first class” care being offered at the new Ty Ynysawdre Extra Care centre following a recent visit. Ty Ynysawdre, located near to Coleg Cymunedol Y Dderwen, was built in partnership between Labour-led Bridgend County Borough Council and Linc Cymru. All residents living in these Extra Care flats has their own tenancy through Linc Cymru. Extra Care allows residents to live in their own fully-fitted flats independently, while also having on site access to care provided by Bridgend County Borough Council. Chris Elmore, Welsh Labour MP for Ogmore, has slammed the UK Government’s plans to end free movement of EU citizens without a new system on 1st September as “deeply irresponsible and morally reprehensible”. Rail Fare Rise “Another Kick In The Teeth” For Passengers – Ogmore MP

Welsh Labour MP Chris Elmore has criticised plans to hike rail fares by an above inflation 2.8 per cent next year – a move that will add more than £100 to the cost of many season tickets. The increase has been based on the Retail Price Index inflation measure for July, despite the measure no longer being a national statistic. The UK Government’s commonly used measure of inflation, the Consumer Price Index, increased to 2.1 per cent in July. Ogmore MP Calls On Local Community Groups To Apply For Funding

Chris Elmore MP is encouraging local charities, clubs and community groups to apply for funding from a pot of over £3 million that has been raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Applications opened on Wednesday, 31st July and close on Wednesday, 14th August. A wide range of community organisations, from registered charities, to voluntary groups and social enterprises, are eligible to apply for grants of between £500 and £20,000. Women’s Centres Vital For Rehabilitation, says Ogmore MP

Ogmore MP Chris Elmore has called on the UK Government to open women’s centres in Wales as part of its Female Offender Strategy. Speaking during a debate in Parliament on the strategy, Chris raised the specific rehabilitation challenges faced by women prisoners in Wales, which are inflated by there being no facility specifically for female offenders in Wales.
