Ogmore’s Welsh Labour MP and AM, Chris Elmore and Huw Irranca-Davies, are calling on local businesses to help develop rapid sanitising solutions for emergency vehicles as part of the Welsh Government’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Businesses with suitable expertise and equipment are being urged to work with the Welsh NHS, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, and the Defence and Security Accelerator, to develop new ways to speed up the time it takes to clean ambulances and other emergency vehicles. Ahead of this week’s Budget, Ogmore MP Chris Elmore has backed the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) call to reduce the tax levied on draught beer. At a meeting in Westminster, the Welsh Labour MP said it was time to “reduce the strain” on the pub and wider hospitality industry. As many as 14 pubs close every day across the UK, despite the industry supporting nearly 900,000 jobs and contributing £23.6 billion a year to the UK economy. Ogmore MP Chris Elmore has spoken out again on the abuse and violence faced by too many shopworkers across Wales and around the UK. In June 2019, a Home Office consultation on Violence and Abuse Towards Shop Staff, closed. Despite this, UK Government Ministers are yet to publish a formal response. Ogmore MP Chris Elmore was pleased to join his Assembly colleague, Huw Irranca-Davies, and local residents at the celebration event to mark the re-opening of the Ogmore Valley Community Trail.
