Chris Elmore MP has called on UK Government Ministers to ensure that enough action is being taken to protect children online during the COVID-19 pandemic, following starling warnings from an internet safety charity. This week, the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) revealed that there has been an 89 per cent reduction in the number of web pages containing child sexual abuse images being taken down online in the past month. Welsh Labour MP for Ogmore, Chris Elmore, is urging employers across his Ogmore constituency to make applications to the UK Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. From Monday (20 April) businesses and other organisations who have had to furlough their workers due to the Coronavirus pandemic can apply to claim 80 per cent of their wages up to a total of £2,500 per month. 67,000 applications were made in the first half hour of the scheme opening on Monday morning and Chris is keen to ensure that all firms in Ogmore benefit from the support available.
