Local residents living in Chris Elmore MP’s Ogmore constituency were able to speak one-to-one with over 20 different organisations on Friday at his first Money Management Advice Day.
Following on from the successful annual Funding Advice Day he hosts with Huw Irranca-Davies AM, the Ogmore MP brought together a range of different organisations, including the Job Centre, BAVO and Welsh Water to give constituents advice on a variety of financial matters.
The event took place at the Gilfach Goch Community Association and was open to all constituents from the Bridgend County Borough and Rhondda Cynon Taf sides of Chris’ constituency.
From finding work, accessing welfare benefits, to debt management, a huge swathe of support options and other opportunities were available to those who attended.

An impassioned speech from Jeremy Corbyn to close this year’s Labour Party Conference. Whilst the Tories are in complete and utter disarray over Brexit, Labour is united in challenging Theresa May’s reckless Tory Brexit strategy (or non-strategy as the case appears to be).
Jeremy rightly exposed the devastating impact 8 long years of Tory Government have caused and suggested an ambitious policy agenda to turn our country around. In particular, it was great to hear about the new 400,000 green jobs which would be created under a Labour Government to grow our economy and help to tackle climate change - one of the greatest threats we face. Of course, I'm also delighted that earlier today Jeremy confirmed a Labour Government will deliver the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon after the Tories' short-sight...
Ogmore representatives Chris Elmore MP and Huw Irranca-Davies AM are to hold a second Funding Advice Day on Friday, 16th February 2018.
This event follows the similar successful event the duo held in Pencoed last year which was attended by over 100 community groups.
This year’s Advice Day will be held at Llanharan Rugby Club between 10am and 12 noon.
Mr Elmore commented: “We know how difficult clubs and community groups can find accessing the funding they need to get started or expand. This is a great opportunity to get one-to-one contact with 13 different funding providers who may be able to help.”
Mr Irranca-Davies added: “Across Ogmore, there are so many brilliant community groups which could really benefit by seeking advice from the organisations we have invited along to this event. Do com...

Ogmore MP, Chris Elmore, and AM, Huw Irranca-Davies, held a busy Smart Energy Advice Surgery this week which informed local residents about the benefits of the rollout of smart meters.
Guests at the event in Cefn Cribwr were given a presentation about what the new technology means for their daily lives, as well as being able to raise more general issues with the two local politicians.
Commenting on the event, Chris Elmore MP said: “I’m delighted there’s been such a good turnout at this event – it’s easy to forget how much money can be saved from your energy bill by effectively using a smart meter. Many thanks to Enid Lloyd and Cefn Cribwr Young at Heart group for partnering with us for this event.”
Over tea and biscuits, attendees were also able to ask questions of the representatives from Sm...
