Chris Elmore MP has launched a resident consultation in Pontycymer about the amount of digital freeview channels available to them. The consultation comes as a number of residents have come to the MP pointing out that they receive less TV channels than those who live further up the valley.
The signatories, which include local subpostmaster Dixie Dean, have said the problem seems to be from the signal from the Wenvoe mast being weaker once it comes over the Garw valley.
Chris Elmore MP said:
“It’s important that people are getting what they pay for. Dixie and other residents, contacted me, concerned that they only have access to 20 television channels and 13 radio channels, not the 111 channels (excluding radio) he signed up to.
I’m sending a questionnaire out to residents so I can get a better idea of the situation. I’ve written to the Welsh Government minister and the Culture Secretary about how they can improve digital inclusion across Ogmore.”
