Chris Elmore MP joined headteacher Mr David George, staff and pupils from Pencoed Comprehensive following their double good rating from their Estyn inspection in November.
The school, who have improved from their previous rating, welcomed the MP to a tour where he met and spoke to students and staff.
The school have recently worked with Pencoed College on a sixth form partnership which will see subjects such as Law and Dance being taught in the school for the first time.

“The pupils, staff, head teacher Mr George and governors have worked tirelessly to improve standards and the school really is seeing the rewards of their hard work.
“It was an absolute pleasure meeting the pupils and staff. The future for Pencoed comprehensive is certainly on the up. Outlined with the Urdd rugby 7s competition they’ll be hosting this summer, the partnership with Pencoed College with the sixth form and the improving standards – it is an exciting time for the school.”
The recent Estyn report put the school on a double good rating and was conducted in November.
