Chris Elmore MP tried out Ofcom’s new Mobile and Broadband Checker app at an event in Parliament.
Residents can check whether their mobile reception and home broadband connections are giving them the best service, using Ofcom’s new app for smartphones and tablets, or online at the Ofcom website.
If the app finds a problem with either, it will explain possible causes and provide practical troubleshooting advice. The app also shows voice, 3G or 4G coverage from all major network operators, both indoors and outdoors, at any location in the UK – allowing people to compare which network offers the best service in places such as the home or office.
Chris Elmore MP said:
“Ofcom’s free Mobile and Broadband Checker app is a very useful one-stop shop for anybody who wants to check how their broadband connection is performing, or compare mobile coverage by operator at their address”.
Steve Unger, Ofcom’s Chief Technology Officer, said:
“Ofcom’s new app provides information on broadband performance and mobile coverage where you live. If it finds a problem with either your mobile reception or your broadband, it will explain possible causes and provide practical troubleshooting advice.”
