Older Persons Commissioner Joins AM and MP at a Coffee Morning

MP Chris Elmore and AM Huw Irranca-Davies welcomed the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Sarah Rochira, to Anwen Care Home in Pantyrawel to discuss with residents, and other pensioners, issues they’re facing.

The trio welcomed pensioners to come and join them for tea and biscuits to discuss the challenges facing older people. Issues from I.T to care, from local provisions to mobility were discussed with the pensioners.

Chris Elmore MP said: “It was great to welcome Sarah to the coffee morning and I’m grateful to the brilliant staff at Anwen Care Home for welcoming us all.

The issues covered today just show that pensioners cannot be painted with a broad brush. The issues are vast and we must make sure we don’t leave the age group behind.”

Huw Irranca-Davies AM added: “Many thanks to the lovely residents and staff at Anwen Home who were great company during a very successful coffee morning. It was good to share a cuppa and join in friendly discussions with Sarah Rochira and Chris in promoting the rights and interests of older people in Wales and recognising the challenges that age discrimination poses.”
