Ogmore MP Continues Fight for State Pension Equality

July 31, 2017

Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, has been re-elected as the Secretary of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on State Pension Inequality for Women.

The group aims to seek justice for the hundreds of thousands of women born in the 1950s who have had their state pension age raised with little or no notification from the Government.

Chris Elmore MP said: “it’s fantastic to see real momentum growing behind this important cause from all political parties – we must deal with this injustice as soon as possible”.

The ever-prominent Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign are working closely with Members of Parliament from across the UK to encourage the Government to compensate those who have been affected.

Speaking in a recent debate in Westminster Hall, the Ogmore MP said: “these women, who account for around 8 per cent of the population of my constituency, had planned for their retirements, both from a financial and social perspective, only to have the goal posts moved”.

Mr Elmore is appealing for women who think they have been affected to get in touch with him by calling 01656 860 034 or by emailing chris.elmore.mp@parliament.uk.
