Chris Elmore, Member of Parliament for Ogmore, attended the Evanstown Fun Run this week which saw children and their parents running in what has become a popular annual event in the local calendar.
Mr Elmore commented: “It’s great to see the whole community coming together and getting active. It’s yet another fantastic activity being put on throughout the summer months”.
The Ogmore MP presented medals to the youngsters participating in the event alongside Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Councillor Margaret Teg, and Chair of Gilfach Goch Community Council, Councillor Allun Warren.
Chris Elmore MP added: “We must always encourage young people to take part in sport and it’s fantastic to see so many children having such an enjoyable time today – thank you to all the organisers who helped make this event so successful”.
The Evanstown Fun Run is an annual event organised and funded by the Gilfach Goch Community Council.
This year’s event also saw Geunor Evans recognised, who has organised the event for 28 years and played a significant role in making it the success it is today. A cup in honour of Mrs Evans will now be presented annually to the overall winner of the race.
