Ogmore MP Follows Cefn Cribwr's History

The Member of Parliament for Ogmore, Chris Elmore, uncovered Cefn Cribwr’s proud industrial and railway history this week at the open day of the village’s signal box.

The annual event, which is always well-attended by residents from the surrounding area, was gifted with blue skies this year as budding historians delved into Cefn Cribwr’s industrial past.

Chris Elmore MP commented: “It’s great to see so many people of all ages learning about Cefn Cribwr’s past – both from a historical and a cultural perspective”.

A wide array of cakes were available to purchase for those who sought to discover more about how the village came to be what it is today.

Mr Elmore continued: “I’d like to thank all the volunteers who put on the tea and cakes – of course I couldn’t resist sampling these in this wonderful weather!”.

The signal box, which dates back to the 1860s, has been restored in recent years by Y Cefn Gwyrdd and now stands as a valuable historical resource for local schools and community groups.
