Parliament Turns Pink for Breast Cancer Care

September 14, 2017

Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, joined other parliamentarians on Wednesday by dressing in pink to raise awareness of the charity, Breast Cancer Care.

Many MPs wore pin badges to highlight the cause during the first Prime Minister's Questions following the summer recess.

Mr Elmore commented: "It's not my normal work attire - I was very tempted to take my new pink specs into the Chamber!"

The reception in Parliament was held by the charity in preparation for Wear it Pink day on Friday, 20th October 2017.

The Ogmore MP continued: "This really is a fantastic cause which affects so many of us - I'd like to encourage as many constituents as possible to wear it pink on October 20th to help raise awareness of this vital cause."

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, making it the UK's most common cancer. Given the vast number of women affected, the charity is calling for all women to be breast aware and to make use of free breast screening if they are over 50.
