Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, joined residents from across the constituency at various coffee mornings this month in aid of MacMaillan Cancer Care.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event is now held annually and this year was on Friday, 29th September. Budding bakers and coffee lovers across the UK have taken organised events to support the charity in their vital work in supporting people living with cancer and their relatives.
Mr Elmore commented: “MacMillan support hundreds of thousands of people across Wales and the UK as a whole at a very difficult time in their life. The service they provide to individuals and their families who have been affected by cancer really is invaluable.”
The charity aims to help people suffering from cancer and their loved ones take back some control of their life. From help with money worries, advice about work, to simply providing somebody to listen to what they’re going through, MacMillan aims to support people at every stage of their cancer treatment and beyond.
The Ogmore MP continued: “It’s always fantastic to see so many local residents organising their own events for this occasion – it’s one of those times where communities really pull together to help those in need.”
This year’s nationwide event marks the 27th successive annual coffee morning held by the charity, having originated in 1990. Since its inception, the public have raised over £138 million for the charity.
