Local MP, Chris Elmore, has joined with other Welsh Labour MPs to back Fairtrade Fortnight 2018.
At an event in Parliament with Countdown host and former Apprentice star, Nick Hewer, the Ogmore MP reaffirmed his support for the global initiative.
Speaking at the event, Mr Elmore said: “It’s great to be here supporting the start of Fairtrade Fortnight this year. It’s vital that those who produce our food, no matter where they live, receive a reasonable price for their produce. I’d highly recommend that people buy Fairtrade wherever possible.”
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Fairtrade organised the special event in Parliament to raise awareness of this cause and to encourage the public to reconsider some of their shopping habits. Mr Elmore is also currently the Vice-Chair of the APPG.
Mr Elmore added: “It is genuinely very positive to see politicians of all party colours attending today – and who could forget Nick Hewer?! I was tempted to ask for a consonant or two…!”.
Fairtrade Fortnight 2018 runs from Monday 26th February until Sunday 11th March.
