Ogmore MP, Chris Elmore, has visited Gellifeddgar Farm in Blackmill, Bridgend, to discuss the issues which are facing the agricultural industry.
Mr Elmore met with local farmers, Charles and Gill Morgan, to discuss the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead as the UK leaves the European Union. Also in attendance during the MP’s visit were representatives from the Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW).
Speaking after visiting the farm, Mr Elmore said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to Charles and Gill for giving me a tour of their lovely farm. It’s been great to get out into Ogmore’s lush countryside and see a shining example of Wales’ thriving farming industry.”
During the visit, Mr Elmore was updated on how the year’s annual lambing season had gone and listened to Mr and Mrs Morgan’s views on Brexit and how they felt it could impact their business.
Mr Elmore continued: “There is a great deal of uncertainty facing farmers across Wales as we leave the European Union and I’m fighting hard in Parliament to ensure we get the best deal possible for our agricultural industry. Thank you to the FUW for a constructive discussion – I look forward to working with them and other organisations as the Brexit negotiations progress.”
