Ogmore MP Chris Elmore this week called on the UK Government to follow Bridgend charity Wings Cymru’s lead. The charity, who provide sanitary products for school children, was complimented in the House of Commons by Mr Elmore who asked the UK Government if they would match the investment of the Welsh Government to tackle period poverty.
In the chamber Mr Elmore asked the Minister for Women if she would join him in : “congratulating Wings Cymru which supports every junior, primary and secondary school in my constituency in supplying sanitary products to all girls across the county borough?
Will she also congratulate the Welsh Government, who have given direct investment to give free sanitary products after campaigning groups like Wings Cyrmu who have been lobbying?”
The Minister, whilst showing interest in the work that Wings Cymru do, was unwilling to commit to matching Welsh Government funding.
