Local MP Chris Elmore was joined today by VIPs, parents and guests to officially open a new bespoke sensory garden and playground at Y Bont, a local Bridgend charity that supports disabled babies, children and their families.
Y Bont would like to thank all of the families and children who attended the opening with a special thanks going to the people who made it all possible.
Global company, Freudenberg Oil & Gas Technologies Ltd. were asked to choose a local charity to support from a list of charities provided by Heidi Bennett from Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations. Following a successful application, Y Bont received a grant of £54,000 and the support of employees from their Port Talbot branch who gave up many weekends to volunteer to complete the work. They surprised Y Bont by offering an additional 25,000 euros each year for the next two years.
Y Bont would also like to thank Bridgend Rotary Club, Prescott Jones Insurers Ltd and Rob at BDS Paints who provided the extra money and supplies to complete the job.
When opening the fantastic asset, Chris Elmore said: ‘It was an absolute joy to be asked to officially open this wonderful new space for Y Bont. It is heart-warming to not only see local businesses supporting such a worthwhile charity but a global company of the magnitude of Freudenberg, getting involved and making such a huge contribution not only to Y Bont but to Wales and the UK.’
