Job Title: Parliamentary Assistant (Constituency based)
Working for: Chris Elmore MP
Salary Details: In line with IPSA pay scales
Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, is looking for a full time Parliamentary Assistant to join his team in the Constituency Office.
Fixed term 6 month contract (possibility to become permanent)
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues
Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc.
Ensure the Member is fully briefed in potential questions and motions to be put to the house
Give advice on policy issues
Monitor media coverage and brief the Member on relevant issues
Prepare and present briefing notes for committees, press releases, parliamentary questions etc.
Progress casework as required
Provide generalist admin support
Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries
Supervise staff members where appropriate
Undertake research, usually from readily available sources, on straightforward subjects
The ideal candidate will have:
Excellent organisation skills with good attention to detail
The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
Previous experience in organising events and community liaison
Self-motivation and a willingness and ability to get involved in a wide range of tasks
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO).
