Chris Elmore Praises Work of Church In Bringing Community Together After Break In

Ogmore MP Chris Elmore has praised the local Garw Valley community following the break in at St. David’s Church in Pontycymmer, Bridgend.

The church was broken into on Saturday, 19th January and significant damage was caused to part of the building.

In the weeks following the break in, the local community have set up a fundraising page to contribute towards the cost of the repairs.

Speaking during Business of the House Questions in Parliament, the Ogmore MP called for a debate to be held in Parliament on the role of the church in supporting local communities. The Leader of the House, Andrea Leadsom MP, agreed with Chris’ request and urged him to seek a backbench business debate to discuss the issue in greater depth.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“Despite how frustrating this despicable break in has been for the local community, It’s been great to see how everyone has rallied around and done all they can to help repair the damage done.

“Their donation page is still open. If you’re able to make a small donation, please do.”
