Nantyffyllon Rugby Club A Fine Example Of Sport Infrastructure’s Immeasurable Value, says Ogmore MP

The recently refurbished Nantyffyllon Rugby Club has been praised in Parliament by local MP who said it had brought together “whole area regeneration” and “community cohesion.

Speaking during a debate on sport in the House of Commons, Chris Elmore MP praised the efforts of the local community who had facilitated the renovations, adding that the club should be used as an example of how sport can “Bring about change in the wider community”.

Commenting on the debate, Chris Elmore MP said:

“When I visited the club late last year, I was really taken aback by what a fantastic job the team had done. It truly is a first-class facility which all of the local community and beyond can enjoy.”

The club was reopened in September 2018 following a refurbishment which how sees the premises house a new indoor rugby pitch, a hire space for weddings and events, a state of the art gym and various other facilities.

Chris Elmore added:

“I’d like to pay tribute to Terry, Bernard and all of the committee who have had the vision and tenacity to deliver this brilliant facility over the past 8 years. The impact this is having in Nantyffyllon and beyond is immeasurable.”
