Ogmore MP and AM Check Out Welsh Water Valleys Investment

February 26, 2019

Chris Elmore MP and Huw Irranca-Davies AM have jointly praised Welsh Water’s investment in the Ogmore Valley following a site visit last week.

Welsh Water, a not-for-profit water company, is spending a significant £3.34 million on a new sewer between Ogmore Vale and Blackmill, alongside a £7 million investment into the treatment works in Lletty Brongu, Llangynwyd.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“It’s great to see the significant infrastructure improvements Welsh Water are doing locally which will act to future-proof our water networks long into the future.

“This is the tangible reinvestment you get with a water company which is run on a not-for-profit basis – it’s really pleasing to see.”

The Ogmore duo were given a tour of the site and discussed the wider water network and the challenges facing the sector in the near-future.

Huw Irranca-Davies AM said:

“It’s been fantastic to have a look at the brilliant work Welsh Water are undertaking and I’m really pleased at the efforts they have shown in keeping local residents informed about the various projects they’re currently doing.

“It’s vital that we continue to invest in our water network, particularly as it’s a resource which is often taken for granted.”
