Over 100 local residents attended the third annual Funding Advice Day in Maesteg on Friday, organised by Chris Elmore MP and Huw Irranca-Davies AM.
With a record 19 different funding providers on hand to give advice and support, many clubs and community groups from across Bridgend County Borough and Rhondda Cynon Taf were able to have one-to-one conversations about their future funding needs.
This year’s advice day took place at Maesteg Celtic Rugby Club. Since the events inception in 2016, the local duo have helped hundreds of local organisations to access funding opportunities they may not have otherwise been aware of.
With organisations including the Heritage Lottery Fund, Charity Bank, representatives from the local councils and several local businesses, many attendees left the event with leads which will hopefully help them secure the financial support they need to grow in the future.
Chris Elmore MP commented:
“I’d like to thank all of the local residents who came along to our most successful Funding Advice Day yet. It was great to see so many clubs and local groups coming together to seek assistance with their fundraising efforts.
“Our clubs and community groups are the lifeblood of many of our local communities and I’m so pleased to see so many of them going from strength to strength.”
For those who are unable to attend, Ogmore constituents are advised that they can contact Chris or Huw’s offices should they wish to be sent a funding pack from the event.
Huw Irranca-Davies AM added:
“This year has been our best turnout yet and I’m delighted to see so many new faces looking for funding opportunities to help our local communities.
“If you’re a constituent and weren’t able to attend the event, please do get in touch with Chris and I and we can pass on any information you missed out on!”
