Local MP, Chris Elmore, is promoting a memorial event being held later this month in memory of Cian Case, a 6-year-old boy from Llanharan who passed away last year. Cian had battled a rare form of cancerous brain and spinal tumour.
Cian died in January 2018 following a long struggle with an atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumour which began in 2015. Following initial treatment, Cian was told that the tumours had gone, through sadly his condition relapsed in November 2017. Throughout his treatment, and since his death, his parents have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of Cian’s condition and help others who are struggling with similar situations.
The event organised in honour of Cian is being held on Saturday, 20th April at Llanharan rugby grounds and will feature a series of charity rugby matches, a disco, raffle, refreshments and other activities for all the family.
Chris Elmore MP said:
“It was an honour to meet Cian and I was so inspired by how such a young boy dealt with such a traumatic experience at such an early age.
“I’ve been pleased to be able to work closely with Cian’s parents to raise Cian’s condition in Parliament and have called on the UK Government to do more to help prevent other children from having to go through what Cian, his friends and family had to.
“Please do come along to this brilliant memorial event to raise money for this fantastic cause. It’ll be a great way to both remember Cian and ensure his memory lives on in our efforts to help others.”
