Honouring Jo Cox’s legacy with a “Great Get Together” for Ogmore

The Great Get Together is an annual event inspired by Jo Cox, a member of Parliament who was killed on 16 June 2016. At its heart lies a belief that there is a groundswell of people who reject divisive politics, and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate the things that they have in common.

To mark this year’s “Great Get Together” weekend, Chris Elmore MP will be working with groups from across our area to hold an Ogmore Great Get Together.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“Jo was not only a wonderful person and fantastic MP, she was a friend of mine. That’s why I am so pleased to be working with local people on a Great Get Together event in Llanharan.

“Jo’s family and friends created the Great Get Together, and they now have more than one hundred organisations supporting them.

“This year, the third Great Get Together weekend will take place on 21st – 23rd June 2019, which would have been Jo’s 45th birthday. I hope people will join us in Llanharan for a cuppa and some cake, and take some time to remember that we really do have more in common.”
