Ogmore MP Encourages Community Groups To Apply For Funding

September 3, 2019

Welsh Labour MP Chris Elmore is once again calling on local clubs and community groups in his Ogmore constituency to apply for funding opportunities.

Chris has been working closely with the National Lottery Community Fund, who currently have four different grant schemes open for applications. Each of the grants is targeted at different types of clubs, community groups or charities of varying sizes:

National Lottery Awards for All

£300–£10,000

·        For grassroots and community activity that aims to improve life for local people and neighbourhoods.

·        There’s no deadline, so you can apply at any time.

·        This is our most popular grants programme, so we will prioritise groups with smaller incomes.

·        Applying for this grant is quick and simple.

People and Places: Medium grants

£10,001–£100,000

·        Grants for voluntary or community groups.

·        We will fund revenue or capital expenditure lasting up to five years.

·        The most important thing is that you tell us about your community and how the project will make positive changes on the lives of people within it.

·        This is a one stage application process.

People and Places: Large grants

£100,001–£500,000

·        Grants for voluntary or community groups.

·        We will fund revenue or capital expenditure lasting up to five years.

·        The most important thing is that you tell us about your community and how the project will make positive changes on the lives of people within it.

·        This is a two stage application process.

Rural Programme (round two)

Up to £500,000

·        For projects that create positive change for those living in poverty in rural Wales.

·        For partnerships put together from voluntary or community organisations, social enterprises and statutory organisations.

·        The programme launched in November 2018 and the deadline for applications is 1 October 2019

Chris Elmore MP said:

“Since I was first elected, one of the things I’ve been really keen to do is bring more funding opportunities into our local communities. I know that many local clubs and groups are often looking for resources to help them expand. The National Lottery Community Fund provides a wide range of opportunities that I’d highly recommend local residents look closely at.”

Chris holds an annual Funding Advice Day at a different location in his constituency alongside his Welsh Assembly colleague, Huw Irranca-Davies. He also regularly writes out to local organisations to make them aware of new funding opportunities.
