The Coalfields Regeneration Trust has been working in former coalfield communities in Wales since 1999 focusing their help and expertise in the areas of employment, skills, and health and wellbeing. The Trust works to increase the numbers of residents in work by developing projects which generate new employment opportunities and embed greater community resilience.
There are various areas in which the Trust works, from community investment supporting organisations to deliver community-based projects, to funding for communities to provide sporting clubs and groups for younger people. Their employment and skills services with coaching and mentoring have also been a lifeline for many in former coalfield communities.
Chris Elmore MP said:
“The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is a fantastic organisation which has done tremendous work across Wales over the past 20 years. From employment creation, development of skills, and programmes for the support of heath and wellbeing, there are opportunities for people of all ages to benefit from the schemes supported by these programmes.
“While nothing can fully replace the loss of the coalfields, the work of the Trust in creating new jobs, training local people, and establishing new community facilities has made a huge difference.
