“Cheers to the Three Horseshoes!” – Chris Elmore MP

Chris Elmore MP has joined local Cefn Cribwr Councillor, Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, Councillor Huw David, and Huw Irranca-Davies AM in toasting the reopening of the Three Horseshoes pub.

The pub has reopened after closing around seven years ago. The local community raised thousands of pounds to buy and renovate the 150-year-old Three Horseshoes to bring a local pub back to the village. Local residents were able to sponsor engraved horseshoes as part of the fundraising efforts; including Chris, Huw, and Huw who have each added their horseshoe to the pub’s wall.

Former regular Geraint Mason organised the purchase with a 30-strong community group, whose ages range from their 30s to their 70s. Local tradesmen and suppliers offered discounted goods and free labour and others gave up their time to help clean up and keep the workforce refuelled throughout the works.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“It’s great to see what can happen when a local community pulls together to achieve something like this. It takes a huge amount of spirit and generosity to make an ambitious project such as this happen and the end result is truly impressive.

“Our pubs are a great place for people and families to socialise in the community and I really hope this pub thrives and will be a key community hub for Cefn Cribwr and beyond. Congratulations to Geraint and the whole team for all of their incredible work on this.”
