Ogmore MP Congratulates Gaming Firm On BAFTA Success

October 16, 2019

Chris Elmore MP has commended Pencoed-based Wales Interactive on their success at the BAFTA Cymru awards this week. The team’s win for their “Time Carnage VR” game comes just 12 months after they bagged the BAFTA for “Late Shift”. Time Carnage VR is a survival video game featuring dinosaurs, monsters, robots, and zombies.

The independent video game developer and publisher Wales Interactive was only established in 2011, but have gone on to win numerous awards and accolades and have now firmly established themselves as a world-leader in the gaming sector.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“Huge congratulations to the team at Wales Interactive for yet another fantastic achievement. It’s great to see that their work is being recognised at the highest levels and to see them retaining their crown as true visionaries in their field.

“BAFTA Cymru is a great opportunity for Wales to showcase the brightest and the best of Welsh talent to a much wider audience. Every year it shows us that the talent nurtured in our communities and the programmes made here in Wales are top quality.

“The arts are important to Welsh culture and it’s great to see homegrown talent who can inspire and encourage our young people to show what is possible for aspiring actors, directors, and of course, video game designers coming from Wales.”

The BAFTA Cymru Game award was presented to the Wales Interactive team at a star-studded event at the St. David’s Hall in Cardiff on Sunday, 13th October.

Other winners included Anglesey-born Celyn Jones for his role as serial killer Levi Bellfield in ITV’s Manhunt, Huw Stephens for his documentary on the history of Welsh language rock music, and Russell T Davis for his writing on the A Very English Scandal TV series. Velindre – The Hospital of Hope won best factual series.
