Local MP urges constituents to comply with social distancing measures

Welsh Labour MP for Ogmore, Chris Elmore, is calling on local residents and businesses to comply with the strict public health measures currently in place to help save lives. Chris has received some concerning reports of businesses making their employees go to work, despite being classified as non-essential under the government’s latest guidelines.

Chris is also continuing to promote the large number of local businesses who are offering food delivery services to local residents during the Coronavirus pandemic. Working alongside his Assembly colleague, Huw Irranca-Davies, Chris is advertising the contact details of these businesses via his social media feeds.

Police forces have now been instructed to enforce the UK and Welsh Government’s latest public health advice which has been enacted to help build resilience in the Welsh NHS and slow down the spread of Coronavirus. Members of the public should now not leave their homes unless absolutely essential.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“I want to thank each and every person who is complying with these disruptive public health measures. Together, we’re helping to save thousands of lives across the UK. It’s essential that all non-essential businesses protect their employees and the wider public by following the clear advice also.

“I want to thank all of our amazing NHS staff, supermarket workers, council staff, and everyone who is playing their part in the fight against Coronavirus. This is an unprecedented challenge but together we are making a real difference.

“I’ll be continuing to keep constituents up-to-date with the latest, reliable advice – please do follow my social media feeds for up-to-date information. If you have an issue or concern to raise with me, please get in touch by emailing chris.elmore.mp@parliament.uk or by calling 01656 860034 and leaving an answerphone message.”
