Ogmore MP Chris Elmore has marked National Volunteers’ Week with praise for the efforts of the local volunteers who have been working so hard for the community during the coronavirus pandemic.
The pandemic has prompted a huge increase in volunteering with thousands signing up to volunteer in the NHS and local organisations forming to help those advised to shield in their homes.
Chris Elmore MP said:
“Our community has always been close knit, but it’s been incredibly heart-warming to hear the stories of people helping to support one another through this crisis.
“The pandemic has reminded us of the importance of community connections and we’ve seen so many examples here in Ogmore, from groups like the amazing team at Bridgend Community Transport to the individuals who have signed up to the Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations.
“Volunteering doesn't have to include grand gestures - so often it’s the small tasks many of us take for granted that can make life so much easier for others.
“I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all those who have volunteered during this crisis and before.”
