Ogmore MP, Chris Elmore, has paid tribute to the hard work of local volunteers at local Llynfi Valley charity, Special Families Maesteg, who he took the opportunity to visit now lockdown restrictions in Wales have begun to be eased. While adhering to social distancing at all times, the local MP caught up with the team and was updated on the work the charity has been doing to support local people during the current crisis.
Volunteers have been helping over 300 families across the valley by shopping for food on their behalf, making check-in phone calls, helping with the collection of medicines, and various other activities as the impact of coronavirus continues.
The charity has also continued providing its regular support, advice, and activities to families with children and adults who have a disability. Chris said he was “delighted” to have been able to visit the team physically now that individuals and families were beginning to be able to see one another again.
Chris Elmore MP said:
“It’s been brilliant to be able to get out and about in the constituency again now that coronavirus restrictions are being cautiously eased. Claire and the entire Special Families Maesteg team have been providing invaluable support to the local community – both before and during this pandemic.
“The work the amazing team of volunteers has been doing on top of their day to day support for disabled children, young adults, and their families has been phenomenal.
“A huge thank you to the whole team for everything you are doing – it really does not go unnoticed and it is highly appreciated.”
