Local bus services “a lifeline not a luxury” says Chris Elmore MP

Ogmore MP and MS Chris Elmore and Huw Irranca-Davies have written to First Cymru Buses to raise concerns on behalf of constituents across Ogmore regarding access to key public transport routes.

Since the Coronavirus pandemic began, Chris has been working to ensure key workers have access to adequate bus services — both in the Ogmore Valley and right across the constituency.

However, many residents have raised concerns that services that were withdrawn or reduced during lockdown have not yet been reinstated.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“Living at the bottom of the Ogmore Valley myself, I know just how vital bus services are for those residents who don’t have cars - whether for travelling to work, caring for friends and family, or doing the weekly shop.

“Decisions made, quite rightly, in the name of safety and public protection at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic cannot now be left in place indefinitely. These bus routes are a lifeline, not a luxury, and First Cymru must reinstate them without delay”.
