Chris Elmore MP and Huw Irranca-Davies MS celebrate small businesses in Ogmore

Ogmore MP and MS Chris Elmore and Huw Irranca-Davies have spent the weeks building up to Small Business Saturday (5 December) celebrating and promoting Ogmore’s diverse small businesses on their social media feeds.

With the Covid pandemic, its associated lockdowns, restrictions, and challenges, many small businesses have faced an incredibly difficult year, and Chris and Huw wanted to support them and encourage local residents to support small businesses in the community.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“Our small businesses have faced an unprecedentedly difficult year and Huw and I just wanted to play our part in supporting the great products and services that they provide. Our small businesses are incredibly important to our local community – both as a support to the local economy as well as keeping our towns vibrant places to be.”

Among the businesses featured in Chris and Huw’s feeds have been barbers, sweet shops, restaurants that have begun delivering, and pharmacies.

Huw Irranca-Davies MS said:

“We are immensely proud of the incredible way our community have responded to this crisis and our small businesses have been a huge part of that response. They’ve had to adapt their business models and endure difficulties but we want to encourage constituents to use these businesses in the lead-up to Christmas to ensure that they are still there for us once this pandemic is behind us.”
