Welsh Labour MP for Ogmore, Chris Elmore, is urging his Ogmore constituents to continue following the strict restrictions in place across Wales during the “fire break” lockdown. His latest warning comes as Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board reported that there have now been almost 70 Covid-related deaths in its hospitals and they were currently treating 366 patients, as of 26 October.
A short, sharp “fire break” lockdown has been implemented by the Welsh Government and is expected to run until Monday 9 November to try and reduce the rate of Covid-19 infection across Wales.
Cases continue to rise across England and Boris Johnson has so far refused to implement a similar lockdown to help the UK Government get back in control of the virus.
Chris Elmore MP said:
“I know how frustrating this is for everyone across our communities. But it’s vital that we all continue to follow the restrictions that are in place to help protect our NHS and to save lives.
“We all want this winter to be as “normal” as possible but we can only achieve that if we work together.
“Thank you to everyone for your efforts – we can get through this together.”
