Small Business Saturday “more important than ever”

Small Business Saturday “more important than ever”

As Wales loosens restrictions following the two-week firebreak lockdown, Ogmore MP Chris Elmore and MS Huw Irranca-Davies have kickstarted their annual Small Business Saturday campaign.

From now until the 5th December, they will be promoting local businesses on their social media platforms to help support local, community businesses after an incredibly difficult year.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“Our local high streets and small businesses have been hit incredibly hard by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. From closures and reduced footfall, extra cleaning costs and PPE, they have worked wonders in unprecedented circumstances.

“I’m a great believer in supporting our local shops and businesses and this year, it’s taken on an added importance.”

From butchers to bakers, and perhaps even candlestick-makers, Chris and Huw want to hear from businesses in the community who would like to join the campaign.

If you are a small business and want to get involved, please email a photograph of your business and brief details about the products or services that you offer to either or

Huw Irranca-Davies MS said:

“The recovery from Covid-19 depends on our local economies and so it is vital that we support them now so that they are there after this crisis passes. I know that we have some fantastic local businesses who can provide some great products and services and I am excited to see the businesses who get involved this year.

“Please do get in touch and let us know about your business. We’re looking forward to hearing from you all!”
